zine fest 2011

I'll be at the Chicago Zine Fest tomorrow, March 26! I'll be sharing a table with Laura Park again this year, and we'll be selling some comics, prints, books, and Laura's delicious baked goods. The Zine Fest poster above is designed by the absurdly talented Edie Fake, and I think we may have some of his stuff at our table as well. It'll be held at the Conaway Center (1st and 8th floor) at Columbia College at 1104 S. Wabash Ave, from 10am - 5pm. I also have a new little abstract film showing in the film screening at the Fest that evening. Come on by!

earwax

I thought I'd join the chorus of Chicagoans eulogizing the loss of Earwax restaurant this week. It was a place I spent a lot of time at while in school, as a place to draw all afternoon and drink lime milkshakes and have rambling conversations and weird dates. I went there one more time this past weekend as they were closing, and they let me have the last extra copy of their xeroxed menu, the cover of which is adorned with doodles by Chris Ware, Dan Clowes, Archer Prewitt, and others. Adieu Earwax, Adieu lime milkshakes.
