This Friday Nov. 30th from 6 to 9pm, Alexander Stewart and I have a exhibition opening at Roots and Culture Contemporary Art Center, called Where'd I Leave the Thing Itself. All the pieces in the show are collaborative works, which we cooked up during our stays at Yaddo and Haystack this past Summer.
The main piece in the show is a looping animation called "Cruxfilm," composed of both abstract and figurative arrangements. They are held in suspense, transforming, and sometimes collapsing. "Poiple Phase" uses laser-cut slides in two 35mm slide projectors to make unpredictable combinations of text and images. There are also several works on paper, which we made by alternately adding, adjusting and subtracting elements from compositions in the studio.
We had a lot of fun with these pieces, and we hope that you will come out and see the show this weekend!
